Players under 30 that fell off the map
Boogers is a very old example and we all know the story there, but in more recent memory what the hell happens to these players?

I’ll start with Jordan Ibe -

signed by Liverpool as a wonderkid, makes over 40 appearances for Liverpool before a £20m move to Bournemouth in 2016. Released on a free from Bournemouth and now at age 26 he is allegedly in the Turkish 2nd div and not played a game.

Can we make a starting 11 of under 30 players who should have been someone?

Good shout on Reo-Coker earlier. Peculiar case, captain at West Ham, but always seemed to view us as a stepping stone thinking Arsenal or similar would come in for him. After that attitude stunk the place out, ended up with massive moves to Villa, Bolton and Vancouver Whitecaps. Wonder if he regrets thinking he was better than us.

He was also an extremely limited footballer. Second touch often a tackle.

Terry Dixon. Signed from Spurs and hailed as the Irish Rooney, his career really went under. He now works for a tunnelling company.

I’ll chuck Connor Wickham into the mix after seeing him appear at Forest Green Rovers scoring from the halfway line at the weekend.

He is 29

"The England Learning Disabilities (LD) team is one of eight disability squads supported by the Football Association. To qualify for the team, players must have an intellectual disability with an IQ equal to or below 70-75, as determined by the World Health Organization"

Bertie Brayley also played for the England Learning Disabilities team. Apparently he once went for a haircut at a dog salon among other strange things.

Moving from club to club is a way of making money for lower leagues/ semi pro status players. This thread got me curious about what happened to the fa youth Cup winning team of the late 90s.

Obviously Cole and Carrick went on to have stellar careers. On the other hand Bertie Brayley went on to play for 40 different clubs, most at semi pro levels, takes the label of Journeyman to a different level.

So many young players come on the scene get a big move and then fall by the wayside.
Injury scuppers a lot of them but equally the big money move may not be the right one in terms of there football development and they struggle to cement a place in the squad are farmed out in loan and soon find there stock has diminished rapidly.
One example of this is a fella now playing at Halifax called Jordan Slew who was signed by Blackburn from Sheffield united on transfer deadline day in 2011 for £1.1m.
He hardly kicked a ball for Blackburn and since then has amassed 14 clubs in the lower echelons of the football league and more recently outside the pyramid.

Players who come into league football late in the day or from non league seem to have more longevity and less injuries ithe likes of Pearce Ian Wright & Les Ferdinand for example played up until late 30s 40s even.
Hunger & desire probably plays a part also.

Was reminded of Mitten Gamer Pederson. Had a bit streak in mid 2000s then I barely remember him doing anything.

Turns out he's still playing st 41!

Played zero times for us and zero times for them

Did have a good career though in Sweden and managed 37 international caps for Finland

Matt Jarvis was another one crocked by injury. He was out for 2 and a half years soon after joining Norwich. Even by then I think most clubs had moved on from using wingers who just hug the byline and put in crosses, so I don't think he would have hit any heights or got any more England caps.

Matt Jarvis was also a player that never really hit the heights that were expected.
After he left us he ended up at Woking via Norwich & Walsall.

Remember when we signed Dale Gordon?

A massive let down. Played nine games in about 3 or 4 seasons.

Bonzo made a few questionable signings - whether he had much to do with them is another matter altogether.
